International Workshop on Development of Sustainable Smart Cities at MITE Moodabidri
A Two Day International workshop on “Development of Sustainable Smart Cities: Perspectives on Engineering Challenges” was inaugurated today by Dr. Krishna R Reddy Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University Of Illinois, Chicago today at at Mangalore Institute Of Technology And Engineering, Moodbidri. The Workshop is been conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering from 3rd to 4th January, 2018 in association with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Udupi and Local CAFET-INNOVA Technical Society, MITE.
The Chief Guest of the Program Dr. Krishna R Reddy Professor , University Of Illinois, Chicago in his inaugural address spoke future of smart cities and he mentioned that organising this kind of workshop is a privilege to the younger generation. He also mentioned that, smart city is a buzz word and the concept of smart cities helps in improving the quality of life and environment. To achieve quality of life we need smart technologies. He emphasised on the fact that, this topic is the emerging topic not just in India, but also across the world.
Dr. S Neelamani, Professor, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait delivered a key note address on Engineering Challenges for the sustainable development of Marine infrastructures with special reference to smart cities. Dr. Varghese George, Professor & Head, Civil Engineering, NITK, Surathkal , Dr. Lakshmikantha H, Environmental Officer, KSPCB, Udupi, Dr. Anathanarayana V S, Dean Research & Consultancy, NITK, Surathkal, Dr. D R Ravi, Environmental Officer, KSPCB, Bangalore ,Dr. Jagadish Vengala, Professor & Head, Civil Engineering, BMSIT&M, Bangalore, Er. Praveen, Ecoparadigm, Paradigm Environmental Strategies Pvt .Ltd., Bangalore have been invited as a keynote speakers for various sessions related to sustainable smart cities.
This International workshop will be a great opportunity for young engineers to put up their new innovative ideas towards the sustainable development of the world, where they will have an interaction with professors, national and international delegates who will take part in this workshop to express their vision and views towards development of sustainable smart cities. Participation in this workshop will undoubtedly provide a great opportunity for the students and young researchers across the world to enlighten their mind .
