MITE ADOPTS ONLINE TEACHING & LEARNING METHODOLOGY: FOR LEARNING NEVER STOPS HERE
The ongoing health crisis due to the Pandemic COVID-19 has put the entire system in jeopardy. However, Technology has enabled our system to function in spite of geographic constraints. Students are spread across the country, and we are connecting to all our stakeholders and appraising them of the current situation while requesting them not to panic. The Lockdown may have slowed down our process, but it will not stop the Teaching & Learning Process. Our Faculty has adopted various innovative methodologies, are working from Home, and conducting classes to our Students. Our Faculty Mentors are Counseling and helping students to cope with the stress.
We have adopted multiple platforms to continue the Teaching and Learning Process. Few of the strategies adopted by our Faculty are:
GOOGLE MEET
The Regular online classes are conducted using GOOGLE MEET Education Suite. We are using Google Education Suite for more than a decade. The Google Meet allows our Faculty to schedule classes and control who attends the classes. Through the Video Conferencing Class, Faculty will be able to present/ discuss/ and interact with the students. All the Departments have a schedule for the classes and our Students have adapted to this new medium very quickly.
EDMODO
The Edmodo Portal provides an overall Class communication, collaboration, and coaching network and also enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. The students are shared detailed communication about the classes, classroom presentation materials and schedules are announced in Edmodo. Also, the online Quiz and assignments are shared in the EDMODO app.
MITE DHI ERP SOLUTIONS
We have our own ERP Solution – DHI, which is provided by an IT Company Heraizen Technologies. The ERP Solution enables the Students Management, Class Management, Schedule Preparation, Attendance Management, and overall Academics Management. In addition, DHI also has a Module to conduct an online test, which is used for conducting Quizzes.
COURSERA
MITE has provided Education Premium Licenses of Premium Courses of Coursera to its Faculty and Students. Through this Students can continue to learn beyond the Classroom and get Online Certification on various courses from Prestigious Foreign Universities like Yale, Michigan, Stanford, and also from Companies like IBM, Google, Microsoft, etc.
NPTEL COURSES
MITE is one of the Top Ranked College in India in adopting Courses from India’s Top Collaborator of Courses – NPTEL and is listed as ‘Active Local Chapter’ since December 2017. The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. Our Students are encouraged to register for courses in NPTEl and get certified.
WHATSAPP GROUPS
One of the important aspects of any crisis is ‘Mental Well Being’. We are of utmost concerned for the Mental well being of our Students and Staff, and regular counseling is done by speaking to our Students and as well as mentoring them by forming Groups in Social Messaging App. This allows us to be in touch with our students continuously and understand their problems. Proper Guidance is given to the students who approach with any issues. With a Hierarchical Mechanism, any issues according to the severity, are escalated to the next level to ensure no students queries are left unanswered.
MITE students innovate to fight pandemic
Technology has been the silver lining in the fight against COVID-19 and has changed the way the world is battling the pandemic. Our students designed viable solutions that would aid the people who are combating COVID-19 from the front: A website that provides crucial information on COVID-19 and a low-cost Automatic Sanitizer Dispenser.
Contactless Sanitiser dispenser for a cost less than INR. 1000

Sriram S, a student of Mechatronics Engineering designed a sensor-based automatic hand sanitizer dispenser that is portable and low-cost. The dispenser that could be handy in public places has a cost of production below INR 1000 and is a step closer to preventing community spread of COVID-19. The touch-free dispenser uses a sensor to detect and hence activate a pump that dispenses the sanitizer. The model uses a USB charger to power up and could be table or wall-mounted. The dispenser is installed at Aadya Dental Clinic in Bengaluru and would be installed in a few more clinics this week.
COVID Live tracking Website
The student team from Information Science, Joy D’Souza, Niranjan Mallya, Shashank and Praneeth designed a website, Corona Tracker with which one can have an eye on the number of positive cases, recovery and death toll and other details of COVID-19 of a region. The live verified data is fetched from the API to be displayed on the website.
This includes the detailed statistics which consist of numbers such as confirmed COVID-19 cases, the number of patients recovered and the number of deaths, etc. The website also flaunts an interactive chart of India through which the user could find COVID-19 cases across the states just by hovering over it.
