Impact Discovery India 2026 at MITE
Think Bold. Design Impact. Create Change.
Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE) is set to host Impact Discovery India 2026, a global innovation and entrepreneurship initiative that brings together Design Thinking, international collaboration, industry mentorship, and student innovation on a common platform.
Organized by Impact Week Germany with MITE as the Hosting Institution in collaboration with Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, Govt of Karnataka (KDEM), the initiative will be held at the MITE Campus from September 16–24, 2026 in two intensive phases. The program aims to equip faculty and students with a human-centred approach to problem solving and enable them to transform real-world challenges into innovative, sustainable, and implementable solutions.
From Faculty Coaches to Student Changemakers
The first phase, scheduled from September 16–18, 2026, will feature an intensive Train-the-Coach Program. International Coaches will work with selected MITE faculty members, exposing them to Design Thinking methodologies and hands-on approaches to innovation, problem identification, ideation, prototyping, and mentoring.
The trained faculty will subsequently take on the role of Internal Coaches, working alongside external mentors during the second phase—the Student Design Thinking & Innovation Challenge from September 21–24, 2026.
Student teams will work intensively on real-world challenges, progressing through the complete innovation journey—from understanding users and identifying meaningful problems to generating ideas, developing prototypes, validating solutions, and presenting their concepts. The program will culminate with teams pitching their solutions, demonstrating the potential of human-centred innovation to create meaningful social and economic impact.
Strengthening MITE’s Innovation Ecosystem
Impact Discovery India further strengthens MITE’s growing culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Institute has developed an ecosystem that enables aspiring innovators to progress from ideas to prototypes and from innovators to entrepreneurs through incubation, mentoring, bootcamps, industry connect, and funding support.
MITE supports 30+ innovative ideas every year with a total funding ecosystem of approximately ₹1.5 crore annually, enabled through initiatives and programs including NAIN, RGEP, MSME, DST–iTBI, and MITE-FIRST.
Impact Discovery India adds a significant global dimension to this ecosystem by introducing participants to internationally practised Design Thinking methodologies and creating opportunities for cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
Creating Innovation with Impact
More than an innovation workshop, Impact Discovery India is envisioned as an experiential journey that encourages participants to observe differently, question assumptions, understand people, collaborate across disciplines, experiment rapidly, and create solutions that matter.
Through this initiative, MITE seeks to nurture a new generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers equipped not merely to respond to the future, but to actively shape it.
