Anveshana 2023-24
Student’s team from Department of Mechanical Engineering of Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE) won the 3rd & 4th Prize at 13th Edition of ANVESHANA. A National level Project Championship organized by the Agastya International Foundation in association with Synopsys held during 27th to 29th February 2024 at Shikshakara Sadana, Bengaluru. The winning team also received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- and Rs. 15,000/-. One team from Mechanical Engineering also secured a consolation Prize. The event witnessed over 640+ innovative projects submissions from across the state, 47 teams from various Engineering colleges of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were selected for the grand finale. Six teams from MITE were selected for the finale from the Department of Aeronautical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics & Communication and Mechatronics Engineering.

The National level Hackathon for final year engineering students is conducted to learn and upskill by getting mentored by Microsoft Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with an objective is to accelerate growth and foster industry relevant skills for success
MITE Student Projects Wins First Place in Anveshana – 2022-23
Students team from Department of Mechanical Engineering of Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE) won the First Prize at ANVESHANA 2023, A National level Project Championship organized by the Agastya International Foundation in association with Synopsys held during 02nd to 04th March 2023 at Shikshakara Sadana, Bengaluru. The winning team also received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000/-. Two teams from Mechanical Engineering also secured a consolation Prize. The event witnessed over 440+ innovative projects submissions from across the state, 47 teams from various Engineering colleges of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were selected for the grand finale. Seven teams from MITE were selected for the finale from the Department of Mechanical, Civil, Electronics & Communication and Mechatronics Engineering.
The project ‘Semi Automatic Areca Nut Collector’ developed by Mechanical engineering Students of MITE Mr. Pradhyumna Murthy, Mr. Pranam and Mr. Prasanna Kumar along with High School Students Mr. Vitesh and Mr. Prashant M A Gondi from Shri Subramanya Swami High School, Kadandale, Moodabidri won the First Place. The Project team was guided by Dr. Mohankumar, Department of Mechanical Engineering. Also, two projects from the Mechanical Engineering that won the consolation prizes are – ‘Chicken Feather Eco-Composite’ Project developed by MITE Students Mr. Sushanth, Mr. Merwyn Pinto and Mr. Rithic Lobo along with Mr. Vignesh and Mr. Manvith from Jyothi Aided High School, Ajekar, Karkala, guided by Dr. Shivaramu H T, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and project ‘Automated Ration Vending Machine’ developed by Mr. Raeid, Mr. Mohammed Munnawar and Mr. Numaan Ahmed along with Mr. Manvith and Mr. Harshakanth from Govt. High School, Kinnikambla and guided by Dr. Shivaramu H T and Mr. Madhusudhan, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The Teams were shortlisted for the Finals at the State Level Anveshana regional competition held on Feb 19-21 at Dharwad. A total of Nine project teams from MITE were shortlisted for the regional competition, in which the project ‘Semi Automatic Areca Nut Collector’ won First prize, the project ‘Automated Ration Vending Machine’ won the Second Prize and the project ‘Ports 360’ by Mr. Aniruddha M and Mr. Ullas Pai guided by Mr.Akshaya Krishna N, Department of Civil Engineering won the Third Place . The project ‘Obscure Horn System’ by Mr. Abdul Qadir and Ms. Dilna Sulthana Bint Musthafa, guided by Mr. Sandesh Nayak, Department of Mechatronics Engineering won the consolation prize. All the Project Teams comprised of students from Government high school students around Moodabidri.
Seven Ranks in University Exams 2022
MITE has set yet another incredible milestone by securing top ranks in the 2022 B.E Examinations conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. Seven Students of different Engineering Streams have secured Ranks in the recently announced University Ranks by the VTU.
Mr. Shivashankar secured 1st Rank with Gold Medal in Mechatronics Engineering, Ms. Chaitra M secured the second rank in Aeronautical Engineering. Mr. Vinay Annappa secured the third rank in Aeronautical Engineering, and Mr. Sumukha B secured the third rank in Mechatronics Engineering. Mr. Thanmay M secured the fifth rank in Mechatronics Engineering, and Mr. Nithin Kadian secured the eighth rank in Mechatronics Engineering. Mr. Nikhil S secured the ninth rank in Mechatronics Engineering.
MITE Students Wins Global Hackathon
Student Team of Electronics & Communication Engineering of MITE won the First Prize in the ‘Global TIBCO Labs IoT and Sustainability Hackathon’ organized by TIBCO
Labs with a Cash Prize of US $10,000. The Final Year Student Team of Electronics & Communication comprising of Mr. Mohamed Fazil, Mr. Nagesha, Ms. Ashritha C, Mr. Rohan S, mentored by Mr. Ramalingam H M, Senior Assistant Professor won the prize for their Idea submitted on “AI Based Crop Management System” under the theme “Hack for Food Production” to provide the solution for smart farming.
The Global Hackathon conducted between November 15 th to February 7 th 2022 focused on proposing projects that address one or more environmental challenges we face across the globe today, from enhancing energy efficiency and reducing global emissions to making cities “smarter,” the Internet of Things (IoT) and sustainability. The Participants were required to propose innovative solutions on any one of the theme – Smart Energy, Smart Water, Food Production, Pollution, Transportation. The hackathon had a total of 1641 teams participating with unique ideas proposed on the various themes.
MITE Project wins All India II Prize at UNISYS Innovation Project Contest
Electronics & communication Engineering Students of MITE Moodabidri have won the Second Prize in the Grand Finale for this year’s Unisys All India Innovation Program Y13 Contest. The Team comprising of Final Year Students of – Mr.Mohammed Fazil and Mr.Jayanth Kumar got the II Prize for their Project “SOP Monitoring System – Video Analytics” (Beyond Vision)”. Mr. Ramalingam H M, Senior Assistant Professor, Dept of ECE guided the students in the Project. The Team was awarded with a cash Prize of Rs. 1.25 Lakh.

A Mechanical Engineering students project has won the “Best Project of the Year Award” at a state-level 45th Series KSCST SPP 2022 Project Exhibition & Seminar organized by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Bangalore in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi held during 12th and 13th of August 2022 at VTU, Belagavi. The project titled “Converting Scrap Vehicle to a Low-Cost Eco-Friendly Two Wheeler using Universal Conversion Kit” was carried out by Mr. Gagan Gunakar, Mr. Girish, Mr. Hasheel Ismail Abdul, and Ms. Megha B Hunder the guidance of Mr. Swaroop G, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, Moodabidri. Vice Chancellor Dr. Karisiddappa presented the best project award to the team. The event witnessed around 332 innovative projects selected for the grand finale from various streams of engineering colleges across the state.

MITE Formula Car wins Third in Design at FMAE Formula Student 2017
Formula MITE Racing of MITE secured third position in Design in FMAE Formula Student 2017 (FFS-2017), held from October 6th – 9th 2017 at Kari Motors Speedway, Coimbatore. The event was organized by Fraternity of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (FMAE). The team stood sixth in the overall event that saw 31 teams from across the nation.
The team had 26 students from Mechatronics, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Electronics & Communication Engineering. 31 teams had participated, out of which 25 cleared the Online Evaluation Rounds, and 20 appeared for the main event, in which only 12 teams cleared the technical inspection and qualified for the dynamic events. Formula MITE Racing bagged 3rd position in the Design Evaluation and stood 6th Overall.

MITE has been awarded the “Best Engineering College undertaking Green Initiatives’ in the Award Ceremony organized by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Mangaluru as part of the World Environment Day Celebration. The Award was handed over by Shri B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology on June 17th. Mechanical Engineering Student Team designed and developed an ‘All Terrain Vehicle’ which participated in the SAE India competition. The Team stood All India 10th among 44 teams that qualified out of 175 teams in SAE Baja 2016. The Car was awarded as the ‘Most Popular Car‘ by JK Tyres Motorsport.
About SAE Baja:
SAE Baja India is an all India intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The objective of the competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Each team competes to have its design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm. Students must function as a team to design, engineer, build, test, promote and compete with a vehicle within the limits of the rules, where the team is expected to deal with the management of the whole project from procurement of parts to garnering financial support.
Baja Student India was held in the month of January 2016 at Buddh International Circuit, Noida, where total of 44 teams participated. The Team from MITE stood All India 17th amongst all the participating 400 teams in the Preliminary Round and qualified for the SAE Baja 2016. The Team was ranked 7th in the Acceleration event and 8th in the Endurance event. The Team further qualified for SAE Baja India 2016, held at NATRAX Facility, NATRIP, Indore.

First Rank in MBA – VTU University Exams 2013
MITE has set yet an incredible milestone by securing First rank in the 2013 MBA Examinations conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi.
Ms.Deeksha has secured the First Rank in the MBA Examination conducted by VTU Belagavi. She also was awarded Four Gold Medals for First Rank, and scoring the Highest Marks in MBA across the state, and being the Topper in MBA.
04 Student Projects has been selected and approved for Sponsorship by KSCST
In the 36th series of the Student Project Program of Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), a total of 4 Innovative Projects from various department of MITE has bagged sponsorship in the year 2012-13.The event is supported by the Department of Science & Technology of State Government through KSCST.
