A session on “LaTeX Tool for Research Writing”

The MITE teaching learning center in association with IQAC, Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, organized a session on “LaTeX Tool for Research Writing” on 11th April 2026. The session was conducted with the objective of equipping faculty members with essential skills for preparing structured and high-quality research documents using LaTeX. A total of 15 faculty members actively participated in the session, making it an informative and skill-enhancing academic initiative.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Sithara Mary Sunny, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, MITE. She has strong academic expertise in research documentation and technical writing, with experience in guiding students and faculty in preparing scholarly articles and reports. Her familiarity with LaTeX tools and academic publishing practices enabled her to deliver a comprehensive and practical session tailored to the needs of faculty members.

The session focused on providing a clear understanding of LaTeX as a tool for research documentation, highlighting its importance in creating well-structured and professional academic documents. Participants learned how to organize content using sections and formatting styles, write complex mathematical equations efficiently, and manage figures, tables, and references. The session also introduced faculty to LaTeX editors and online platforms such as Overleaf, enabling easy document preparation and collaborative research writing. The practical insights shared during the session helped participants enhance their technical writing skills and improve the quality of their academic documentation.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Aveen K P, Assistant Professor and TLC Coordinator, Department of Robotics and AI. The session concluded with active interaction and feedback from participants. Overall, the program served as a valuable initiative in promoting effective research writing practices and encouraging the use of advanced documentation tools among faculty members
