“Awareness Session on Legal Aspects of Sexual Harassment”

On 17th of February 2025, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of MITE conducted an “Awareness Session on Legal Aspects of Sexual Harassment” for its female students and female employees. Advocate Shwetha Jain was the resource person for the session. She is a legal expert with a career spanning over two decades in the field of workplace laws and sexual harassment prevention. Advocate Shwetha Jain’s expertise extends beyond legal advisory services, as she has also participated in national and international presentations, sharing her knowledge and insights with a global audience.

Advocate Shwetha Jain educated the participants about the definition and various forms of sexual harassment. Through activities, she engaged the participants inculcating in them the importance of having courage and self-respect. She explained the legal rights and provisions available for women, to safeguard them against the heinous act of Sexual Harassment. The importance of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and the legal aspects covering its constitution and functions were deliberated. Adv. Shwetha also informed the participants about the process of filing complaints and seeking redressal. The participants were educated that the legal framework prohibits victimization of the complainant and ensures confidentiality. She highlighted the importance of promoting a culture of respect and gender sensitivity. She further emphasized that by educating employees through such awareness programmes and ensuring proper implementation of the law, organizations can build a culture of trust, equality, and compliance, ultimately contributing to a healthier environment for all.
