The department of Management Studies organized an expert session on ‘Key Behavioural Traits & Expertise needed to Succeed for Industry Managers’, on the 26th of February 2025 at MITE.         Dr. Praveen Kamath Kumbla, General Manager HR – Global Strategic Hiring & Redeployment, Wipro Ltd., Bangalore, was the speaker for the session. With over three decades of experience in human resources, Dr. Praveen has worked with leading conglomerates, managing HR functions across India, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States. He is also a recognized academic contributor, serving as a visiting faculty member at prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). He is a member of the board of studies at several top B-schools and engineering colleges in India, where he plays a vital role in shaping the future of business education.Around 140 students from MBA 1st year had the opportunity to participate in the insightful session by Dr. Praveen Kamath. The session highlighted the true essence of career success. One of the key takeaways was the realization that hard work outweighs intelligence when it comes to achieving professional goals. Through real-life examples, he reinforced the importance of perseverance and dedication contributing towards the success of individuals in their careers. Students learnt that continuous learning, active reading, strong communication skills, commitment to academics and seeking guidance from mentors are of utmost importance. Another crucial take-away was the role of physical activities, such as yoga and sports, in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and managing stress. The speaker further emphasized that LinkedIn certifications, participation in B-school fests and networking are essential for building a strong professional profile. A particularly valuable lesson was about the behavioral traits that the industry looks for—interpersonal skills, active listening, resilience, flexibility, and accountability. In today’s fast-changing business world, these qualities help professionals adapt and excel.
