Faculty Development Program on “Pedagogical Approaches to Innovative Teaching”

The departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautical Engineering, in association with IQAC-MITE and TLC-MITE, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Pedagogical Approaches to Innovative Teaching” on the 22nd of March 2025. The resource person for the FDP was Dr. R. Dattakumar, Head- Operations, EnhanzED Education Pvt Ltd, Mysore. Dr. R. Dattakumar has 36 years of professional experience and has trained over 3000 engineering educators across India on classroom centered teaching- learning innovations. He has a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mysore.

The faculty development program emphasized innovative teaching through several key strategies. The speaker highlighted the importance of structured inquiry using the 5W1H framework and effective presentations using the 6×6 PPT rule. Flipped classroom models were highlighted, alongside experiential learning, encompassing diverse modes. Various pedagogical approaches were discussed, promoting active engagement and deeper understanding. The program aimed to equip faculty with tools to enhance teaching efficacy through these modern, student-centered methodologies.
