Guest Lecture on “Assured Innovation for Atmanirbhar Bharat”
MITE Research Council organized a Guest Lecture on “Assured Innovation for Atmanirbhar Bharat” on 7th of July 2025 at MITE campus. Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy Registrar, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi was the guest speaker for the session. He is an eminent academician and researcher with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He had held key positions including Dean of R&D and Professor & Head of the Department of Biotechnology at BIET, Davangere. Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy obtained his Ph.D. from Bangalore University and received international training in aerobiology and bacteriology. He has delivered lectures at renowned global institutions in Poland, Australia, and Italy. With numerous research publications and multiple national and international accolades to his credit, he is widely recognized for his contributions to research and higher education. Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy is also an active member of several academic boards and professional societies and is known for championing innovation-driven, socially impactful research. His outreach in science communication and public health has left a significant imprint on community engagement and educational awareness.
The session witnessed participation from 50 students and 70 faculty members. Dr. Rangaswamy presented a visionary address on India’s progress in innovation over the past two decades and highlighted the nation’s current 39th position in the Global Innovation Index. He emphasized the critical importance of technology translation, patent filing, and productization of research outcomes to create meaningful societal impact. The session covered the significance of academic incubators, startup support frameworks, and intellectual property ecosystems within institutions. Participants were challenged to think critically about India’s capability to deliver frugal, scalable innovations in domains such as healthcare, connectivity, and diagnostics. A strong message was delivered on the need for domestic recognition and promotion of indigenous innovations, which is vital for national self-reliance and global competitiveness. The session inspired faculty and students to align their research and innovation efforts with national missions such as Atmanirbhar Bharat and Startup India.
