INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2025

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), of Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, organized INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2025, on the 8th of March 2025 at MITE campus. The chief guest for the event was Mrs. Preethi Nayak, Co-Founder of Joos Botal – Mangalore’s first and only manufacturing facility for bottled fresh fruit juices without preservatives or artificial colors. Her entrepreneurial excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, including:  Exceptional Woman of Excellence – FOUNDHER 2023 (Women’s India Chamber of Commerce & Industry), Enterprising Woman Entrepreneur – Union Bank of India (International Women’s Day 2023), Best Women Entrepreneur Award – FKCCI (2024), Silver Award in Startup Category – UBUNTU Consortium (2024). With a strong focus on hygiene and technology, she ensures the perfect balance of taste, freshness, and convenience in Joos Botal’s products. Mrs. Preethi delivered an insightful session titled “Women in Business – A Real-Life Perspective” as part of the event. The session aimed to empower female students by highlighting entrepreneurial challenges and success stories, celebrating their achievements, and fostering gender equality in the professional world. She emphasized the importance of resilience, adaptability and perseverance in navigating the business world.

The celebration witnessed participation from 400+ female students and employees. As part of the celebration, the following female students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments:

  1. Ms. Rajala Harshitha (3rd Year, ISE) – A passionate writer and author of “The Value of Now,” a book exploring friendship, love, self-discovery, and the challenges of growing up.
  2. Ms. Aradhya Bekal (1st Year, AIML) – A gold medalist in Karate who represented MITE and secured victories in Shivamogga (2023), Mysore (2024), an Inter-College competition in Bangalore, and a participant in the National Karate Championship (Punjab).
  3. Ms. K. Ankitha Madhyastha (3rd Year, ISE) – Recognized as Outstanding Female Achiever, for maintaining a 9.2 CGPA (Vth Semester) and excelling in hackathons, innovation programs, and certifications. She has participated in IUCEE, Google Girl Hackathon 2025, and Unisys Innovation Program Y16 2025, and is currently registered for BE Honours and part of Infosys Pragati – Path to Future Cohort 3.

 During the celebration, MITE launched the Flagship “Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) 2025”, in order to empower its female students to drive entrepreneurial ventures and tackle Sustainable Development Goals. WEP 2025, an open innovation challenge, empowers women to drive impactful change. This dynamic program equips aspiring women innovators with design thinking and technology skills to develop transformative solutions addressing real-world challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will gain valuable opportunities to launch and scale their ventures, fostering meaningful community impact.
