Mastering Flipped Classroom Techniques for Effective Teaching

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Teaching Learning Centre at Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering organized a hands-on workshop titled “Mastering Flipped Classroom Techniques for Effective Teaching” on 1st August 2025 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The session was conducted by Ms. Sahana Girish Kundar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at MITE, Moodabidri, and a Research Scholar at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka specializing in Educational Technology. With over 16 years of teaching experience, she is known for her innovative approach to transforming engineering education through outcome-based curriculum design and research-driven learning modules.

The workshop was attended by 27 faculty members from various departments. The sessions introduced participants to active learning strategies and demonstrated the use of advanced digital tools such as H5P, Hot Potatoes, and Mentimeter for creating interactive content, real-time assessments, and engaging flipped-classroom experiences. Faculty members explored methods for integrating these tools into their teaching practices, with an emphasis on enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

Participants were encouraged to implement the demonstrated tools in their courses and share proof of use after CIE 1. The interactive format, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities ensured high engagement, with attendees expressing keen interest in applying these techniques in their upcoming classes. The event concluded with a feedback session, certificate distribution, and a group photograph. Overall, the workshop was well-received, providing valuable insights and practical skills to improve teaching effectiveness at MITE, thereby supporting the institute’s commitment to innovative and student-centered learning approaches.
