The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of MITE organised a Poster Presentation Competition on “Breaking Barriers: Women Driving Innovation—Towards Equity” on April 30, 2025, to promote awareness about gender equity in science, technology, and other domains. The event aimed to encourage students to research, reflect, and creatively express the challenges and achievements of women innovators.
The objectives of this activity were to increase student awareness of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and its role in fostering a safe and equitable environment; to highlight the significant contributions of women in driving innovation across various sectors; to identify the barriers that hinder women’s equitable participation and advancement; and to promote the development of inclusive strategies that dismantle these barriers, while showcasing impactful examples of women-led innovations to inspire future generations.
Around 40 girl students participated in the competition. Each team prepared a poster aligned with the central theme and delivered a brief oral explanation of their work. The posters were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges: Mrs. Shaila Sequeira, Student and staff Counsellor and Dr. Maryjo M George, Assistant Professor in the department of AIML. The evaluation criteria were Adherence to the theme, Design and Aesthetics, Communication, Presentation skills and Teamwork.
Ms. Disha and team, from CSE Department secured the First Place. Second Place was awarded to Ms. Ankitha SS and team from ECE Department.
The Poster Presentation Competition successfully fulfilled its objective of inspiring dialogue and reflection on gender equity and the powerful role of women in innovation.
