SAP Hackfest 2025

The Department of Master of Computer Applications at Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE) organized “SAP Hackfest 2025” on 29th May 2025. This hackathon-style event was designed to foster innovation, promote hands-on learning, and build a bridge between academia and industry. A total of 59 student teams, comprising 201 participants, competed in the event, supported by 8 faculty members, 8 internal jurors, and 8 distinguished external jurors.

The event was graced by prominent industry leaders. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Jayanth Bagare, Chief Development Architect at SAP Academy of Engineering, brought over two decades of experience in enterprise software and led several global upskilling initiatives within SAP. He was joined by Mr. Venkat Raman L, Development Expert at SAP Labs India, who also has 19 years of experience and currently leads the Global Architect Workshop at SAP. The third key guest, Mr. Darshan Kasaravalli, Founder of NeXtGrids, is a visionary entrepreneur and startup mentor with extensive expertise in AI/ML, IoT, Blockchain, and deep-tech innovation ecosystems.

Throughout the Hackfest, students were encouraged to identify problems, collaborate across disciplines, and develop creative technological solutions. The event provided an excellent platform for real-time application of knowledge and cultivated innovation, critical thinking, and teamwork among participants.

The Hackfest served as a dynamic forum where students engaged with industry experts, gaining valuable exposure to current trends and real-world challenges in emerging technologies. Discussions during the event also emphasized ethical considerations in AI and tech-based businesses, helping students reflect on responsible innovation.

Key outcomes included the identification and nurturing of standout talent, offering students potential industry and startup opportunities. Participants gained confidence through live presentations, constructive feedback, and technical guidance from jury members and resource persons.

In conclusion, SAP Hackfest 2025 was a resounding success, fulfilling its objective of inspiring future innovators and empowering students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge in a collaborative and competitive environment.
