Workshop on “Angel Investment/VC Funding Opportunity for Early Stage Entrepreneurs”

The Department of Management Studies, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a workshop on Angel Investment/VC Funding Opportunity for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs on 29th August 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

The session was delivered by Ms. Aparna Nayak, Chartered Accountant and Branch Head of Ganesh & Sudhir Chartered Accountants, Bengaluru. With extensive expertise in finance and taxation, she has worked with global organizations including Deloitte and has guided numerous start-ups on compliance, project financing, and strategic growth.

The workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights into the funding ecosystem for early-stage ventures. Ms. Nayak discussed the global and Indian funding landscape, emphasizing opportunities in emerging sectors such as AI, clean energy, semiconductors, IoT, cybersecurity, and the space economy. She highlighted India’s advantages including cost competitiveness, digital infrastructure, and supportive government policies. Funding options were explained under three categories: non-dilutive, dilutive, and debt-based financing. She elaborated on the stages of start-up funding (idea, seed, early growth, IPO/acquisition) and used the Snitch case study to illustrate how strategic positioning and investor confidence play a decisive role in entrepreneurial success.

Participants also gained exposure to the six-step fundraising process—from building a strong foundation and pitching, to negotiating term sheets. The importance of storytelling, financial discipline, and measurable traction in securing investor confidence was strongly emphasized.

The session was highly engaging and attended by 199 students and 4 faculty members. Overall, the program broadened participants’ understanding of funding dynamics and strengthened entrepreneurial outlooks, aligning with MITE’s vision of fostering innovation and start-up culture.
