Workshop on “Contemporary Solutions for Transformative Electric Vehicle System Architecture”
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MITE organized a workshop on “Contemporary Solutions for Transformative Electric Vehicle System Architecture” on 23rd and 24th of April 2025. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Riyaz A. Rahiman, Senior Application Engineer, CoreEL Technologies, Bangalore. Dr. Riyaz A. Rahiman holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering specialized in Control systems from Anna University Chennai. He has over 16 years of experience as an ECE faculty member in various Engineering Colleges in Kerala and Karnataka. He is currently providing technical engagement and solutions to educational institutions as part of the CoreEL University Program. He has technical hands-on expertise in MATLAB and Simulink. His areas of interest include but are not limited to, Control Engineering, Electric Vehicles (EV), model-based design, Robotics, Renewable Energy, and Power Electronics.
Around 40 students and 02 faculty members participated in the workshop that aimed at providing an in-depth understanding of the modern trends in EV technology, offering a comprehensive exploration of various EV systems and their applications. The key topic covered in the workshop was EV Architectures, focusing on the integration of powertrains, battery management and control systems for efficient performance. The Motor Modeling session emphasized the importance of understanding motor dynamics for optimizing energy conversion. Techniques for DC Motor Speed Control were discussed, highlighting methods to regulate motor speeds, essential for improving vehicle performance and energy efficiency.
The workshop also addressed Power Electronics for EVs, underlining the role of converters and inverters in managing power flow between the battery, motor, and auxiliary systems. Battery Modeling techniques were presented to simulate battery behavior and predict performance and lifespan under diverse driving conditions
Furthermore, the session on Vehicle Body Design at the System Level demonstrated how factors such as aerodynamics, material selection, and weight influence the overall efficiency of electric vehicles. The workshop concluded with an exploration of EV reference applications, showcasing real-world EV designs and solutions that are shaping the future of the automotive industry.
Overall, the workshop equipped participants with critical knowledge and practical insights necessary to advance their expertise in the evolving field of electric vehicles.
