A Workshop on “Non-Destructive Testing & Evaluation” was organized by the department of Mechanical Engineering on 27th March, 2025. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Ganesh T, Quality Manager, V & G Industrial Testing Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Ganesh has over 25 years of experience in non-destructive testing (NDT), destructive testing, and quality inspection. His expertise includes inspection of fabricated structures, weld quality assessment, radiography film interpretation, and training new professionals in NDT techniques.
The workshop witnessed participation of around 50 students. It provided valuable insights into Non-Destructive Testing methods and their industrial applications, with a strong emphasis on hands-on practical demonstrations. Participants actively engaged in Dye Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and Radiography Film Interpretation, gaining first-hand experience in defect detection techniques. The practical sessions allowed students to operate real NDT equipment, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and industry applications. A highlight was the fluorescent method of Magnetic Particle Testing, which visually demonstrated flaw detection under UV light. The interactive Q&A session further enhanced learning by addressing the queries raised by the students. Industry. Overall, the workshop provided a comprehensive technical foundation in quality inspection and testing, equipping participants with essential skills for careers in engineering and manufacturing industries.
