World Environment Day

The departments of Management Studies, Chemistry and MITE NSS organized World Environment Day celebration on 5th of June 2025. Expert talks, a panel discussion and a drawing competition were organized as part of the celebration. The expert talks were delivered by Mr. P. Sridhara, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Moodabidri and Dr. Rajesh Bejjangala, Research Professor, Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mangalore. 

Shri P. Sridhara, a dedicated forest officer from Kotebagilu, Byndoor taluk, has been serving in the Forest Department since 1989. Rising through the ranks from Forest Guard to Assistant Conservator of Forests, he has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Chief Minister’s Gold Medal, for his exemplary work in forest protection, wildlife conservation, and environmental awareness.

Dr Rajesh Bejjangala Research Professor at Srinivas University, holds a Ph.D. from Kannur University and has completed over 530 online courses on environmental issues under global organizations like the World Bank and United Nations Organization (UNO). With 15 years of university-level teaching experience, he has held various academic and administrative positions, including Campus Director, Course Director, and NSS Programme Officer. Currently, he serves as the Project Director of the Swacha Puttur Project—Karnataka’s first initiative to convert waste into Compressed Natural Gas—while guiding 8 Ph.D. and 2 post-doctoral students.
